Congratulations to Olivia Coish & FF Four Yellow Rose on their Circuit Champion wins in Open & Youth Ranch Riding at Summerama!
The Ranch Riding pattern was custom designed by well known trail course designer Tim Kimura in honour of Ontario horse-mom Hella Volmer. Tim donated this pattern to Summerama to use in her memory.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Tiina & Leena Volmer on the loss of their mother. Here’s their memorial note they shared with us for the show:
In Memory of Helle Volmer
Today’s ranch riding pattern was designed to be in the shape of an “H.” This pattern is dedicated to the memory of a great horse show mom, Helle Volmer.
Those of you who showed or attended AQHA shows in Ontario years ago, will remember Helle’s deep dedication and endless committment to her two daughters and their love of horses. For many, many years she accompanied her daughters to shows all over Ontario.
Rain or shine, Helle could be seen spending endless hours in the warm-up arena with a can of fly spray and a brush in her hand. If she wasn’t grooming a horse, she was posing as the “practice judge” for showmanship, or at the entry table making entries. Once a class started, she would be in stands, watching & studying, always amazed by the beauty and talent of the horses and riders. She was never alone in the stands, since she loved to chat with others who shared her love of horses and the horse show life.
Helle loved people, loved horses, and loved life as a horse show mom. She was always there to wipe away the tears in times of disappointment, and there to share in times of joy when goals were accomplished.
Although Helle is no longer physically with us, she is here in spirit. There is no doubt that she is in heaven with a horse and a couple of dogs at her side. Please take a moment to remember her. If you are a horse show mom, or if you are lucky enough to be the child of a horse show mom, cherish the moments you have as a family at horse shows. These times you have together will create memories that will last a lifetime.
Best of luck to all.
