ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
November 10, 2002

The Area 3 Annual General Meeting was held at Teen Ranch on Sunday November 11, 2002. It was a great venue for this event and a fairly central location for the majority of our members. Thanks to Joanne Black for co-ordinating this event.

The AGM was an excellent opportunity for members to attend, ask questions and understand what the club does to operate this business which encompasses 3 of the largest shows in Ontario, a fantastic youth event, an annual awards banquet (whose awards are considered some of the best in the industry) and find out about all the other aspects of running this large organization.

The meeting was a big success in the sense that we were able to review business from the past year,  discuss some new ideas for the coming year and elect a new executive. We were pleased and impressed by the presentation given by Patti Carter on her quest for an AQHA Regional Director title. We spent a great deal of time reviewing an excellent set of financial reports - prepared by Penny Davey and Chris Kloepfer (thank you!).

The meeting could have been even better had we had a greater turnout of the membership. It was  disappointing to see such an empty room. You can look at this from a perspective that we (the board) must be doing good work if no one is coming out to comment in any way. But we need more help! The volunteers are what keeps this club going! It was mentioned at the meeting that we will need to raise fees to cover the costs of paying for professional services if no volunteers are available to do the job. Or maybe we will have to cancel or lower the standards of some awards & events because we don't have the money or the people to co-ordinate them. From a purely business perspective, it is understandable how either of these scenarios could happen in the very near future. 

Perhaps armed with that new bit of insight there are some members who would like to assist the club - be it in time or as a sponsor. Please contact any one of the new executive listed below - we would be more then happy to have your support.
