Area 3 BANQUET

Fresh back from the Area 3 banquet, and I can tell you for certain that it was a big success! The banquet was held at a new location this year - the Orion Restaurant and Banquet hall, located minutes from the show grounds in Palgrave. The Orion provided us with a very elegant set up, featuring a recessed dance floor and a stage for presenting awards. The food was absolutely outstanding - plentiful and delicious.

Wayne Jones D.J. Services kept the members dancing until the wee hours of the night, with a super mix of current and classic hits. The door prizes brought in by members to reserve a table went over really well with fierce competition on the dance floor to win a prize!

Once again we have to say a big "thank you" to a few of our volunteers who made this special night possible - Joanne Black for taking on the huge task of co-ordinating the entire banquet. Cindy Wright and Penny Davey for assisting Joanne behind the scenes. Alicia Aitchison and Lynn Junkin for doing a fantastic job on the awards. Reed Sellwood for being the Master of Ceremonies for the night and Lindsay Grice for doing the Blessing.

Each year two special awards are presented - the Linda Lambert memorial, Helping Hands Award (presented to an outstanding volunteer) and the Youth Achievement Award (presented to a youth who exemplifies both sportsmanship and horsemanship). These awards are kept a surprise until the night of the banquet. This year's recipient of the Helping Hands Award was Andrea McGowan and Sarah Black won the Youth Achievement Award. Congratulations to both ladies, and thank you for your outstanding contributions to our club this year!
