The Area 3 year-end awards banquet was held on Saturday, November 10th at the Roman Palace in Newmarket. 170 attendees enjoyed a great buffet dinner, followed by the awards presentations, a chance to bid on silent auction items and an evening of dancing and karaoke. Many thanks to Joanne Black for organizing the event, Jodi Mallette for her help with all the odds and ends, Lynn and Leslie Riley for coordinating the awards, Carol Reeves and Janet Faas for assisting with the awards presentations, Jennifer Campbell for running the silent auction and Mark Grice who was the evening’s Master of Ceremonies.

Each year Area 3 presents two commemorative awards. The first is the Youth Achievement Award.

The recipient of this award is someone who must exemplify both sportsmanship and horsemanship, is a role model for all youth and is helpful and instrumental in various club activities. Congratulations to winner Caitlyn Black.

The second award is the Helping Hands Award given in honour of one of our very own special members - Linda Lambert. She was an untiring volunteer of this club who lost her life in 1999 when she was struck by lightening while ring stewarding a horse show. In her spirit of giving, the HELPING HANDS award was established so we may recognize and thank those special people who do not ask for accolades or payback, Sundays off or overtime. The winner of this special award was Greg Reeves – who was recognized for his tireless work on designing Trail courses, setting up the courses and maintaining the courses during the shows, assisting with sponsor signs and much behind the scenes work.

Area 3 has a number of sponsors whose financial support allows the club to offer quality horse shows each year. In addition, there are a number of individuals who volunteer their time and expertise throughout the show season. The sponsors and volunteers in attendance at the banquet were recognized by the club. Thank you to all and your continued support of Area 3 is greatly appreciated!!!!!
