Joanne Black - 2008 Secretary

Joanne & My Net Worth

Joanne has been an active board member since she was first elected to the board in 1999. She has served as treasurer and secretary for the club. Joanne says, “Although finding time to dedicate to the executive is a struggle, it is all worth it when you see the club grow and succeed. It never fails to amaze me how, year after year, directors and members come out to support the AGM; step up to the never ending need for sponsorship; participate in special events and support the shows. Her ‘real job’ is with TD Canada Trust and she also teaches riding lessons at Reid Equestrian Centre.

After showing at club shows for approximately 5 years, she began showing AQHA under the guidance of Lindsay Grice. Her first Quarter Horse was a gelding purchased from Frank Henry, and that horse would eventually find a home in Bermuda. Her next Quarter Horse was a 3 year old mare Generally Charming (Tye) purchased from Dianne Howe. Ten years later, Tye is still the Black family’s special horse and has been shown by daughters; Sarah, Caitlyn & recently Lisa. This show season Joanne and Sarah are showing My Net Worth (Roxy).

Looking back, one thing stands out above all – that it is the people who make the difference. Whether sitting on the rail during a class, getting together for dinner after the show or those trying times when you have mechanical meltdowns – there is always someone there when you need them.

Thanks Joanne your years of dedication to the Area 3 club.
