Jenna
lives in Chelmsford, Ontario, located just north of Sudbury with her
parents, Blair and Judi; brother Justin; dogs, Jake and Corky; cat Boots
and horses. She attends Laurentian University in Sudbury in the Honours
Biochemistry program, with the goal of attending optometry school in the
future. She works part time at PetSmart as a dog obedience trainer and
at Sportchek as a salesperson.
Quarter horses have been a part of Jenna’s life for as long as she can remember. Introduced to the show ring at the age of 4 years old, she won her first Summerama circuit award at the age of 5 years old. From there, she moved through the ranks to the walk/trot and youth divisions and now looks forward to graduating from the novice amateur category. This summer, Jenna showed her mom’s 5-year old gelding, Elwood (Total Intrest). Elwood, Jenna and her family travelled to shows in Eastern and Southern Ontario and she will be travelling to Ohio for the Congress in October where she will be showing in the Novice Amateur events. Jenna enjoys showing in all events, particularly the pattern classes. She says that showmanship is her favourite class right now. This summer she learned western riding and has really had fun with the new experience. The 2006 show season has been very successful for the Woodley family and Elwood. They have been working with him since he was two and he has been a definite challenge. This year as a five year old, he has well exceeded their expectations, winning numerous AQHA All Around and All Around Runner-Up awards. Judi and Jenna have both done well claiming circuit awards and high points at many of the shows. Jenna says her most memorable moment of the 2006 horse show season though, was placing second at Summerama in the Junior Hunter Under Saddle class. On the other hand, that moment she would like to forget occurred at Barrie when Elwood decided he would like to throw her. Luckily it was before the class began, but no less embarrassing. In addition to horse showing, Jenna is involved in a variety of sports. She recently retired from competitive figure skating and now enjoys the sport by volunteering as a coach and a judge. She also plays golf in the summer and downhill skis in the winter. She would like to thank her mom for sharing her horse all year and for her patience in getting him to where he is now. She would also like to thank her dad for making Elwood a great all around horse that is so much fun to show. As Judi will be reclaiming Elwood next year, Jenna is currently in the market for a new mount for 2007. Good luck Jenna at the Congress and see you in the Amateur classes in 2007!! |
