Lisa Thompson resides in Severn Bridge, which is just north of
Orillia, with her husband Kevin, her two dogs Cleveland and Icy,
and her two cats Mr and Mrs Moo. They currently reside on their
hobby farm which is home to their two horses and a miniature
donkey. Lisa began riding horses when she was six years old. From the beginning she was always encouraged and supported by her father, a fellow great horse lover. She was in high school when she first met Ray Storey, who introduced Lisa into the world of Quarter Horse showing and she has yet to look back. As a youth she travelled throughout Ontario and the United States including competing at the youth world show in her final year as a youth competitor. Lisa is most passionate about the English events and most enjoys the hunter under saddle class. Her favourite horse to have shown was Generally After Dark. Lisa got her from Texas as a three year old and did all the work by herself. All the time and dedication was well acknowledged when she added qualifying twice for the world show and multiple Ontario Quarter Horse Association year end awards to her list of accomplishments. This year, Lisa is preparing a new prospect for the upcoming show season. She is very excited for her two year old gelding, Check Your Assets, who is in training with Lisa’s long time friend and trainer Jim Tunks. Outside the horse world, Lisa and her husband are huge NASCAR fans and spend most Sunday nights watching the race. Lisa jokes about rushing home from horse shows in Carp to make sure she makes it in time for the green flag. This past summer they had the honour of meeting driver Kyle Busch which was a very special day for Lisa. Lisa and her husband also enjoy spending time together with their animals. Her husband was not a horse person when they first met and she is very thankful of his support considering he has also become a horse owner. For Lisa, showing is a social thing. She loves getting to see all her horsey friends during the show season and is now counting down until winter is over and she can see everyone again. This past year Lisa opened a tack store in partner with Cheri Woodrow. Horses R Us, is going to be an exciting new adventure for the both of them. I would like to wish Lisa all the best with her new business venture as well as her up and coming show prospect. |
