| Amateur Spotlight - Taylor Pullen by Lynn Riley |
Taylor
is lucky to have two show mounts!! Her Hunter Under Saddle
horse is Do You Got Zip (Mojo) by Do You Have A Minute. Mojo is
a bay 5 year old gelding and Taylor believes she will never see
a horse trot like Mojo ever again. She says, “He is my handsome
man.” Her western mount is High Time Principle (Will), a 6
year old, bay gelding by Principle Investment. Will is Taylor’s
cuddlebug that has a heart of gold. In addition, she has a Blue
Heeler named Ellie.Taylor started riding quarter horses at the club level at the age of 12 years old. She began her quarter horse show career as a Novice Youth under the guidance of Kelly Simpson. Due to college, Taylor was out of the show ring and she thanks Barb Lockyer for encouraging her to get back in the ring. She currently shows in Open and Amateur in Hunter Under Saddle, Western Pleasure and pattern classes. Her favourite event is Hunter Under Saddle. She travels to shows in Ontario, Michigan, New York and this fall showed at the Congress. Her favourite horse show moment was at the Congress trotting Mojo into the Celeste show pen. She says it was a complete adrenaline rush!! On the other hand, one of the most awkward show moments was while she was waiting to start an equitation pattern, after getting the judge’s nod, her horse decided it was time to relieve himself and everyone stood watching until he was done for her to start my pattern! Taylor lives in Shelburne with her parents Melanie and George. She has two sisters and a brother. Taylor works as an Administrator for the Townships of Amaranth and East Garafraxa. When not in the show ring – Taylor has quite a number of hobbies. She is quite the outdoors woman who enjoys hunting, fishing, boating and snowmobiling. AND like most women, SHOPPING ranks right up there as one of her favourite “hobbies”. Taylor would like to thank her family, particularly her mom for her support. She also appreciates the help of her best friend and trainer, Alicia DeCou. Taylor – best of luck to you and your horses in 2009! |
