Kelsie Beck has been a familiar face on the Area3 circuit for
quite a few years. She is currently being recognized within the
amateur and novice amateur events. Kelsie is originally from
Erin Ontario where she lives on a horse farm in with her Mom
Wanda. She currently resides in Oakville while she attends her
final year of school studying Applied Photography at Sheridan
College.
For the past two years Kelsie has worked at Pekard Miniature
donkeys. A farm located in Rockwood that promotes quality
miniature donkeys for sale and breeding.
On Kelsie’s farm you will find an 11 year old border collie
named Streak that she has had since she was a puppy, as well as
a two year old miniature donkey named Tic.
Kelsie’s involvement with horses is not just limited to quarter
horses. She also owns two thoroughbreds. A mare named Grace on
the Run and her yearling filly named Textin on the Run that
Kelsie hopes to race at the quarter horse race track next year.
Kelsie started showing when she was four years old. Her first
class was a lead-line class at an Area 3 show. She was very
fortunate to have grown up in a lifestyle where horse showing
was a family affair. Her grandmother, mother and aunt were all
highly involved in the horse industry, so it was only a matter
of time that Kelsie would also catch horse fever!
Kelsie currently competes in the novice amateur all around
events with her horse Xtreme Gab, aka Gabby. This year was
Kelsie`s first year competing as an amateur and she has made the
transition from youth to amateur very well. She was the high
point novice amateur at the Summerama show this year. This title
was very rewarding to Kelsie because when she got Gabby, she was
only trained in the western pleasure event and Kelsie personally
added showmanship and pattern skills to her. Her first show as
an all around horse was this year at Summerama. Although Kelsie
shows in all the events, she says her favourite event is
horsemanship.
Outside her horse life style Kelsie been Irish dancing for the
past 12 years and is also a leader in her 4H club. She is also
very interested in her field of study, photography.
Kelsie would like to thank her mom, Wanda, for her continuous
support of all horse crazy habits. As well as her grandparents
who have been hauling her to the shows for the past ten years.
Kelsie admits it would be impossible to achieve what she has
without her family and their unconditional support.
We wish the best of luck to Kelsie in her Amateur career. You
will be sure to her along with her mom, grandmother and aunt at
the shows in 2012! |
