AMATEUR QUARTER HORSE SHOW
The 1st Area 3 All Novice Youth and Amateur Quarter Horse Show was well received and supported by 293 Novice Youth and Novice Amateur exhibitors. Clinics were presented by Mark Grice on Showmanship; Lindsay Grice on Hunt Seat Equitation, Over Fence Classes, Western Pleasure and Western Horsemanship and Jodi Mallette on Hunter Under Saddle. Thank you to all clinicians for donating their time. The judge was Mr. Jack Drechsler of Lunenburg, Ontario. The Ring Steward, Megan Patterson of Bornholm, as well as Gate Steward, Tammy Love both donated their time in support of the Novice Show. MBNA was a sponsor contributing to all 3 Ontario Novice Shows. The official show photographer was Advances Images Equine Photography, www.advancedimages.ca Rosettes were given from first through sixth in each class with portfolios featuring the artwork of Dana’s Doodles given to the winner in each class. In addition, Award Ribbons & Rosettes, a division of Leader Product Manufacturing donated trophies for 1st in Novice Youth Showmanship, Novice Amateur Showmanship and 1st and 2nd in both the Lead Line and Walk Jog/Trot Horsemanship/Equitation. An exhibitor appreciation award was given to one exhibitor in each class. There were 28 entries in Novice Youth Showmanship and 26 entries in the Novice Amateur Showmanship. The Novice Youth Western Pleasure had 20 entries show. This is the first Novice Show in Ontario that has offered Over Fence Classes. There were entries in Novice Youth Equitation Over Fences, entries in Novice Youth Hunter Hack and entries in Novice Youth Working Hunter. At the end of the show, Exhibitor Appreciation Draws were made for a Handcrafted Wooden Saddle Stand, donated by Judy Gill and won by Katelyn Wright of Orangeville. an 11” x 14” Head Shot Portrait donated by Dea Roberts Art was won by Elizabeth Willsey of Orillia and a Double Ear Show Head Stall donated by Ray Laviolette of Circle R Saddlery of Rockland was won by David Howe/Janice Hellman of Newmarket. A complimentary Exhibitors’ Barbecue was held beginning at the conclusion of the show supported by contributions by a number of area grocery chains including Zehrs – Bolton, M&M Meat Shops – Bolton, A&P – Orangeville, Zehrs – Alliston, Sobeys – Alliston and Price Chopper – Tottenham. A Bake Sale was held in conjunction with the barbecue as an Area 3 Congress Youth Team Fund Raiser and had home baked cookies, rice crispy squares, brownies, cup cakes that you could personally decorate with sprinkles, icing, etc.. and more…. Trophies were awarded to: the High Point Novice Youth, Kathryn Stanton of Orillia with The Next Starlet; the Reserve High Point Novice Youth, Emma Storey and Cruzing and Cash from Orillia; the High Point Novice Amateur, Jessica Mosley-Cairncross from Wyevale with Docs Outta Crown ; and the Reserve High Point Novice Amateur, Debbie Beckett of Tara and Pine Sweet Caroline..
