The Area 3 Summer Circuit saw an increase in the number of entries over last year. There were a total of 1,340 entries which included NSBA entries. The judges were Mr. John Aipperspach from Springfield, Missouri and Mr. Mike Swain from Sedalia, Missouri. On Saturday, there were 117 Showmanship entries under each judge with 25 entries showing in both the Novice Youth Showmanship and Novice Amateur Showmanship classes and Small Fry Showmanship had 11 entries. Sunday morning, the Area 3 Showmanship Challenge sponsored by Sundance Meadows, Goodwood owned by Janet Faas and David Hodgson had a total of 15 entries including Youth, Amateur All Age and Select Amateur exhibitors. The results were based on the averages of the 2 judges. The classes ended in a tie, but under the tie breaking judge, Angela McCrae and Envious Trip of Rockwood won 1st and Caitlyn Black and Generally Charming owned by Joanne Black of Orangeville were 2nd. The Open Versatility on Saturday Night drew a total of 5 entries. Auction activity was hot. Bill Rinzema Quarter Horses of Keene was the sponsor of the $250 in added money. The winner was Sarah Black riding My Net Worth owned by Joanne Black of Orangeville with Jenna Woodley of Chelmsford 2nd riding Hired Jesten Tyme. |

The Area 3 Congress Youth Team Raffle was drawn during the Versatility by Area 3 President, Carol Reeves. Janet Fazackerly and Theresa Gregg were the lucky winners. The prizes were: a Framed Print - “Versatility” by Carol Roark, donated by Granton Trailers Limited of Thorndale and a beautiful Show Halter donated by Ray Laviolette of Circle R Saddlery of Rockland. Showing Quarter Horses is definitely a family affair. Fifth generation, 3 Year Old Maddison Woodrow of Orillia rode Kuz That’s Why in the Lead Line Class with her 86 year old Great Great Grandmother in attendance. There were 7 entries in the Lead Line and 12 in the Walk Jog/Trot Horsemanship/Equitation, each receiving Goodie Bags donated by Diane, Hilton, Lisa and David Howe and families. Samantha Howe riding Howes This was the Winner in the Walk/Jog under both judges. Cody Granatier of Welland riding Lopin A Lexus was 1st in the Lead Line under Judge Aipperspach with Kaitlyn Howe 1st under Judge Swain. A Silent Auction to raise money for prizes for next year’s Area 3 All Novice Show was held on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. Paul Straus and Home Hardware donated a wide variety of products with other items donated including Handcrafted Ribbon Racks from the Robitaille Family and a Framed Print by Rod Trider of Advanced Images Equine Photography. Thanks to all who donated items and to the many bidders for making the sale successful. Congratulations to the winners of the ticket exchange $50 Cash Draws: Leslie Riley, Schomberg; Stephanie Willsey, Orillia; Jessica Mosley-Cairncross, Wyevale; and Kimberley Larsen of Peterborough. High Point Select Amateur was Sherry Newbigging, Cambridge with For The General; High Point Amateur All Ages was Amanda Pereira, Nobleton with Mintubee Certifiable; High Point Novice Amateur was Shelley Scriver, Belfountain, with Hes Asgoodasitgets; High Point Novice Youth was Elsa Aitchison with Ima Luckey Card from Penetanguishene; High Point 14 – 18 Youth was Mackenzie Harvey of Toronto showing EBG Certainly; High Point 13 & Under Youth was Michele Wright from Orangeville with Zips Dynamic Design. The High Point Winners received Embroidered Coolers donated by Horse & Hound Tack of Midhurst. The Area 3 shows were well attended and offered some unique and fun events during the 2007 Season. The annual Area 3 Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday evening, November 10 at the Roman Palace in Newmarket. Ken McLellan |
