Alicia DeCou is one of AQHA's newest members. Although she has been riding for 10 years, 2001 was her first year showing with AQHA.

Alicia's riding experience includes showing 'Edward' and 'Smirf', two of her previous horses at club shows. She has owned her 5-year-old gelding, Double L Bonanza ('Clint'), for one year. She says her favourite show last summer was Summer Circuit in Palgrave, and her favourite event has been western pleasure.

She trains with Kelly Simpson, and competes mostly in novice classes, along with a few youth 14-18 classes. Alicia is 15 years old and is in grade 10 at St. Theresa Secondary School in Midland. Her favourite subject at school is English, and in her spare time she enjoys playing basketball. In the future she would love to be a vet.

In 2001, Alicia received the Area 3 award for reserve novice-youth western pleasure, and her goals for 2002 are to compete in a couple more events and to have another great year.
