Youth Spotlight - Amy Trembath by Elizabeth Willsey

Amy Trembath has been riding almost as long as she could walk. She started riding when she was a mere 3 years old, and is currently 13 years old. Amy and her horse make an 8 hour drive from Sault Ste Marie, Ontario to show in Area 3. And while it is certainly a long drive, Amy has never had a complaint, she is always excited to see not just the many friends she has that show with the Kelly Simpson Training Centre and many more throughout the club. When she is not riding or tending to Jae's needs at the barn, Amy attends Isabel Fletcher Public School in Sue St. Marie where her favourite subject is gym. In addition to school and riding, Amy is very active in school sports, playing on the school's basketball, soccer and track and field teams.

Amy started her show career more than 3 years ago, riding BJ's Magestic Bones, but soon after found her perfect fit, with her second Quarter horse, Jae Brownburn. "Jae" is a talented 11 year old gelding who Amy shows in Novice Youth and Youth 13 & Under events for the past 2 years. In this very short time, Amy & 'Jae' have proven to be an unmatched team in the show ring. At the 2005 Area 3 Banquet, Amy won the award for High Point Youth Gelding and Reserve Novice Youth Western Pleasure. "Jae" has also won his Youth Halter Register of Merit. And this year is no exception, Amy & 'Jae' are having an amazing year, with an outstanding start to the 2006 show season. At the Area 3 Barrie Spring Classic horse show, Amy and "Jae" placed well in the ribbons, with many class wins to their credit they finished All Around Reserve High Point Youth 13 & Under.

At the prestigious Area 3 Summerama, Amy and 'Jae' won the hearts of the judges and was easily able to repeat her success with many class wins! In fact, Amy and 'Jae' have earned Youth Performance ROM's in showmanship, horsemanship, hunter under saddle, western pleasure and equitation. And, 'Jae' adds winning Amy's heart with all of his hard work to that list of 2006 accomplishments!

If this isn't enough success for one family, Amy is not the only one in the Trembath family that excels at our AQHA Shows, Lindsey, Amy's little sister shows "Jae" in Small Fry Showmanship and Walk Jog earning more wins and circuit awards to add to 'Jae's' impressive show record.

Amy would like to thank Kelly Simpson and Pat Chamberland for all their help and support. Amy is looking forward to more ... and has her heart set on showing 'Jae Brownburn' at the Ohio Quarter Horse Congress in October. I know I'm speaking for everyone in Area 3 and especially those who ride with the Kelly Simpson group of kids when I wish Amy all the best for the rest of this show year AND Congress this fall!

Good luck Amy & Jae - you are a talented team! Keep up the hard work!
