| Youth Spotlight - Fiona Cameron by Elizabeth Willsey |
|
Fiona and her sister, Alison, share three horses along with three cats and a well loved dog. Their family of horses includes: Storm (Fiona’s mount), Tucker (a six year old appendix Quarter Horse that Alison has been showing this year), and Tyler (a nine year old Appaloosa). Fiona has been riding for 13 years and she started showing at local Hunter Jumper shows 6 years ago. It was only 3 years ago that Fiona entered the AQHA show circuit and we are proud to have her. Fiona has already amassed numerous Area 3 Hi-Point awards with Storm, but more importantly, Fiona told me she has had a personal best this year! Fiona and Storm have formed a bond in the show ring, a bond that has allowed Storm to relax and soar effortlessly over the fences in the show ring. This year, a true partnership has been formed and Storm seems to feel what Fiona is asking for, making it feel like Storm can read her mind. Fiona says she’s had a great time this year, it has been so much fun and she is proud to have shared the experience with her gorgeous palomino, Storm! When interviewing Fiona, she asked me to thank everybody at JBL Stables in Midland for all their help and support, especially Bruce and Nancy. Also, she would like to thank Jessica for all her help and guidance and for convincing them to show on the Quarter Horse circuit. She also wanted to thank her family, her parents and her sister, Alison. Riding in an Ontario Circuit is a dream come true for any girl, realizing that dream and sharing it with your family makes it a memory that will be cherished for a lifetime. Fiona turned 18 years old this year and graduated from Midland Secondary School this past June. She is unsure of where her life will take her and she has decided to take some extra classes and maybe join the school volleyball and cross-country teams for one more year. When she’s not at the barn or at horse shows, Fiona likes to boat and spend time with her family. Congratulations Fiona on all your success with Storm! Fiona and Storm have inspired many of us to consider jumping our wonderful and trusted horses in the Area 3 shows with the hope of sharing their trusted bond over fences in the show ring! |
