| Youth Spotlight - Julia Charpontier by Elizabeth Willsey |
Julia
Charpontier of Bobcaygeon, Ontario has made quite an impact this
year in the Youth 13 and Under events. She rides Gab Me A Cool
One, his friends call him Hershey, in the Youth Western
Pleasure, Horsemanship, Hunter Under Saddle, and Hunt Seat
Equitation. Julia is definitely an impressive young rider to
watch in the show ring. This year, she stepped up from the
Small Fry events in which she showed her previous mount, Tomz
Top Ten General, to compete in the loping events.Julia has been riding for the past seven years, and has been showing for the past four years. Julia's favourite show is Summerama and her favourite class to show is Hunter Under Saddle. Her proudest moments in the show ring include winning the Youth 13 and Under Hunter Under Saddle at Black's under both judges. This was a very impressive award, and it was even more special as it was Julia and Hershey's first show together! Julia's goals for riding include winning a Hi-Point award. Julia trains at the Kelly Simpson Training Centre in Orillia. She would like to thank Pat Chamberland and Kelly Simpson for all their help, and really appreciates all their help in partnering Hershey and her, as well as in helping them create a bond. Julia would like to thank her parents, her step parents, her Nana, Papa, and Granny for all their help and support. Julia would like to thank her Oma and Opa - she cannot thank them enough for allowing her to ride, show, and achieve success in a sport that she loves. Julia turns 13 years old this year, and is entering Grade 8 this September at Bobcaygeon Public School. Julia hopes to become a horse trainer when she is older. When Julia is not at the barn riding and brushing, she enjoys playing volleyball and gymnastics. But, she told me riding and showing was the best sport in the world! Julia is also quite an animal collector. She has 10! One fish (Sasha), one hamster (Bear), three cats (Spooky, Tommy, and Taby), four dogs (Roxy, Hunter, Xena, and Indy), and her horse (Hershey). Good luck this summer Julia! We will be cheering for you! |
