| Youth Spotlight - Kathryn Stanton by Elizabeth Willsey |
|
Kathryn previously showed “Scooter”, Im That Type of Guy, in Youth 13 and under events, but last year she retired Scooter to the family farm, and took up a challenge. Kathryn bonded with her new mare instantly, and they are quickly becoming an outstanding team. Kathryn and Olive’s partnership is wonderful to watch, everyone from Kelly’s barn (Kelly Simpson Training Centre) looks forward to cheering them on at the shows. Already, Kathryn and Olive have been the All Around Novice Youth Circuit Champions on the Ontario Circuit. Kathryn’s next riding goal is to show Olive at the All American Quarter Horse Congress, and I know that if she does go down to compete, she will be successful and make us proud. Kathryn’s favourite class to show is Equitation, and her favourite show is Summerama. This year Kathryn turns 16, and is currently in Grade 10 at Park Street Collegiate. In her free time, which she assures us is little as she spends all her time at the barn, Kathryn enjoys playing guitar, hanging out with friends, and playing sports. Kathryn would like to thank her dedicated coaches, Kelly Simpson, Josh Walters, and Pat Chamberland for all their help and support. Kathryn has had so much fun showing, and can’t thank them enough for all their hard work. Kathryn would also like to thank her family, for allowing her to spend time working on a sport she loves so much. She is thankful that her parents have encouraged her to participate in horseback riding, and are there to watch her every step of the way! Good luck Kathryn! We’ll be cheering for you and Olive this summer! |
