YOUTH SPOTLIGHT - Lynsey Ann Sheridan by Christine Reid

Lynsey Ann Sheridan, from Caledon Ontario, is another talented competitor to watch for in the show ring. She shows her 6 year old gelding, Silk N Rullah, in Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, Showmanship, Halter and Trail Classes. She says her favourite event is Hunter Under Saddle and her favourite show has been the Toronto International Quarter Horse Show.

Before owning "Chester", Lynsey took riding lessons for several years. She was forced to stop riding temporarily after breaking her foot, but soon continued taking lessons with Mark Grice in Caledon. It was just a few months later when Lynsey was introduced to Chester, whom she has now owned for a year and a half.

Lynsey continues to train with Mark Grice, and says one of her goals for riding is to be Rookie of the Year. Last year, Lynsey picked up the Reserve Novice Youth Hunter Under Saddle award in both Area 3 as well as all of Ontario. She has also been doing extremely well this 2002 show season. Last month at Summerama, she won the Hi Point 13 & Under Canadian Award.

Lynsey is 13 years old and just completed grade 8 at St. Cornelius Elementary School. Her favourite subject at school is Drama, and she says she'd like to be a psychiatrist when she's older. She will be attending Robert F. Hall Secondary School in Caledon East this fall.

Good luck for the rest of the season Lynsey!
