Youth Spotlight - Siica Denhartog by Elizabeth Willsey

Siica Denhartog of Arthur, Ontario, has been riding for the past six years. She is currently in Grade 9 at Wellington Heights Secondary School and is fourteen years old. Siica will be competing in the Youth 14-18 events this summer with her two horses, “Mr Doubled My Fancy” also known as Odie, and “RMR Lucky Penny” also known as Reba.

Siica shows Odie in the English events, and shows her mare, Reba, in the Western and Showmanship events. Siica’s goal is to compete with both her talented horses at the Congress this October. Siica has been extremely successful with her horses in the three years she has been showing Quarter Horse, and has already amassed quite a few awards. This past year, Siica was given the title of OQHA Champion Novice Youth Hunt Seat Equitation, OQHA and Area 3 Reserve Champion Youth 13 & Under Hunter Under Saddle, as well as being named the OQHA Reserve Champion in Youth Hunter Hack in both 2006 and 2007. Siica asked me to thank her parents for supporting her and helping her with the sport she loves the most, as well as her coach, Kathleen Burnett, for her dedication in helping Siica. She also asked me to thank all of her friends from the shows who cheered her on!

Congratulations Siica! You can count on us to be cheering you and your horses on at all the shows this year!
