YOUTH SPOTLIGHT - Sarah Black by Christine Reid

Sarah Black is one of the more familiar faces seen in the show ring. She has been riding horses her whole life, and has owned her horse, Iron By Design, for four years. Sarah shows 'Drifter' in Hunter Under Saddle, Equitation, Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, and Showmanship classes. Her favourite event is Hunter Under Saddle, and her favourite show is Summerama. Sarah trains with Lindsay Grice in Caledon, and her goals for riding include someday competing at the Worlds.

Sarah is turning 14 in November and will be attending West Side Secondary School in Orangeville this fall. She enjoys art class, and hopes to become an interior decorator in the future.

Sarah has accomplished a lot throughout her riding career. She competed in both Novice Youth and Youth 12-14 Hunter Under Saddle at the Congress in 2000 2000 on her mother's horse, Generally Charming. She made it to the Semi-Finals in Novice Youth, and the Finals in 12-14, placing 9th under one judge. Sarah's 2001 show season has also gone extremely well with several placings in the tough competition at Summerama!

Congratulations on another great season, Sarah!
