Stephanie
Willsey has made quite a mark in the show ring this year with
her dark brown gelding, A Krymsun Missle. “Billy” and Stephanie
compete in the Novice Youth Hunter Under Saddle and Western
Pleasure as well as the All Around Youth 14-18 events. Already
Stephanie and Billy have become a successful team, who are
beautiful to watch. The pair instantly clicked and make me (as
Steph’s sister), very proud. Previous to showing Billy,
Stephanie showed Covered In Stars, also known as “Slippery” in
the All Around events. Slippery and Steph now compete in trail,
western riding, and showmanship. Slippery has been a part of our
family at shows since Stephanie was in Walk-Jog and while she
may be enjoying the break with a few less classes, Slippery is
very proud to remain a big part of Stephanie's show career.
Stephanie’s proudest moments include qualifying Slippery for
the 2008 Youth World Show in Okalahoma City. They also placed
10th at the 2005 Congress in Novice Youth Hunt Seat Equitation
13 & Under and were finalists in the Youth 11 & Under Hunt Seat
Equitation. Last year, this amazing team earned their
Performance Championship and was recently featured in the
Quarter Horse Journal. In addition to that, Stephanie and
Slippery ended up 7th overall in the AQHA Youth Performance
Halter Mare standings. I know I speak on behalf of Kelly
Simpson’s barn when I say we are extremely proud of Stephanie
and Slippery. Not only do they succeed in the show ring, they
love to have fun. Steph loves spending time at the barn and
enjoys riding, brushing and just around the horses. Stephanie's
future goals include qualifying and showing at the 2009 Youth
Worlds with Billy, and also she would love to represent Canada
in the future at the Youth World Cup.
Stephanie is entering Grade 10 at O.D.C.V.I. in Orillia,
Ontario this fall. When Steph isn’t at the barn, which trust me,
is not very often, Steph enjoys swimming, rowing, hanging out
with her friends, and watching The Office.
Stephanie, Billy, and Slippery will be making their way back
down to Columbus, Ohio this October to compete at the Congress
in the All Around Youth 12-14 events and the Novice Hunter Under
Saddle and Western Pleasure. I wish the best of luck to them,
and I know they will do their very best!
Stephanie would like to
thank Kelly Simpson and Pat Chamberland for all their help and
dedication over the years. She appreciates everything they do,
especially for all the help they gave her with her new horse.
Good luck this summer and
at Congress!
