What led you to start your business?
As a young riders my dream always was to own my own tack shop. After marrying Robert he saw my passion for horses. We started our business from the basement of our home. This small store of ours brought customers from all over Ontario to shop. We moved 8 years ago to a brand new 6,000 sq ft store then we grew even further to opening a second store in Kingston which boasts another new 5,000 sq ft store.
We have such a diverse retail experience, the most often over heard comment is “this is such a cool store every time I come in I see something different” and “I love coming here” We even have kids say that our store is their favourite place to shop, which is crazy as we don’t just have kids stuff.
What cutting edge business practice is your company known for?
We are super competitive and love to be on the forefront of technology. We do a lot of research on anything new in the equestrian market and always strive to know what the the customer is looking for and have it in stock always.

What aspects of the horse industry have you been able to take away and use in your business?
The devotion of our horse clientele have made us what we are today. We have been able to continuously learn and grow with eager horse enthusiasts driving us to be better with our service and education with and everything we do at Bridle Path.
Do you have some advice for young entrepreneurs?
Start small and if your doing it right it will come….. We were just a couple of years into our business, I was the only employee and my husband worked as an electrician elsewhere . I remember saying one day after he came home from work I couldn’t wait to tell him I had 3 customers in the store in one day! We were so excited to have that many! I chuckle to myself every time I think of that.
