Years in Business
What services or goods does your business offer?
Horse training, coaching, lessons, clinics, show preparation
What led you to start your business or become involved in an existing business?
An opportunity to make my lifetime passion into a business presented itself and I went for it!
Does your business have a relationship with the horse industry? If so, how did that come about?
I’ve had a passion for horses since I was little and started riding at 10 years old, showing hunters then eventers before acquiring my first Quarter Horse in 1982.
Do you have any horses? If so, how many?
At the moment I am only partnered on one horse!
Do you participate in Area 3 shows? If so, what are your favourite classes?
I often show clients horses in Trail and Western Riding – both favourites!
Tell us about a memorable horse experience.
There have been many amazing moments watching clients achieve their goals – it could be during a lesson or at a show when something clicks and they are rewarded for all their hard work with a sense of accomplishment and sometimes even a prize! One of the most memorable horse experiences I can recall is the incredible feeling as one of my clients won the Congress in Novice Youth Trail (Carly Epp & PF Shy Guy). We have had many top 10 placings at the Congress over the years and it’s always a moment of great pride in my clients success!
What aspects of the Quarter Horse industry have you been able to take away and use in your business?
The Quarter Horse industry is the root of my business as I don’t often take in horses of other breeds.
What cutting edge business practice is your company known for?
I try to keep up with social media and website promotion – always fun to share pictures and stories as we travel around to shows and clinics!
What is new and exciting in your business you wish to share?
It’s always exciting to see new horse & rider teams join our program and watch them develop their skills and work towards accomplishing their dreams!
Do you have some advice for young entrepreneurs?
You need great communication, organization and business ethics in the horse business on top of skill with the horses themselves! It’s a challenge but very rewarding.
